How Alien Photo Editor Works
Alien Photo Editor is a 100% client-side application. All image processing happens entirely within your web browser using JavaScript. No data is ever transmitted to any server.
What Happens When You Upload
- File Selection — Your browser reads the image file from your device into temporary memory.
- Scaling — The image is scaled down to 160×120 pixels using an invisible canvas element.
- Color Extraction — Each pixel's color is converted to a simple hex code (like
#ff8800) and stored in memory.
- 3D Rendering — Pixel brightness is mapped to terrain height and displayed as an isometric landscape.
What Data Is Stored
- Pixel colors: Up to 19,200 hex color values (160 × 120 grid)
- Filename: Displayed in the title bar only
- Cursor position: Your location on the terrain
All of this exists only in your browser's memory and is erased when you close or refresh the page.
No Server, No Tracking
